Job Summary
Accountable for tooling and fixture maintenance, rework, refurbishment, new tooling and fixture design, fabrication, analysis and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers. Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production. Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances. Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives. Accountable for developing and maintaining tools standard work and procedures. The implementation of tooling, from original concept through to production. Design this tooling for high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such. Accountable for tool fabrication quotes, tooling input for new product quotes, tooling configuration changes that involve cost estimation, schedule coordination, and implementation. Accountable to develop full blue prints sets according to ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T and ensure the parts or tooling designs are feasible. Accountable to resolve or mitigate ant tooling issues (Technical, Timing or Cost). Create and deliver technical trainings for Production Personnel on tool usage instructions. Responsible for the development of NC Programming solutions for high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
Job Qualifications
Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Aviation/Aeronautics), Engineering (Metal Fabrication/Tool & Die/Industrial Engineering) Minimum of 3 years of experience in tools/fixtures design and fabrication or precision engineering industry. Working knowledge of quality system models such as ANSI, GD&T and ISO. Competent in design software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, NX Unigraphic or Inventor). Experience in tools/fixtures fabrication process (CADCAM, CNC Programming or Molding). Fluent in English language, both written and spoken. Participates in activities within a global technical community and understanding of the interface with broader business functions Develops working relationships through team work, influencing, leadership, coaching and personal drive to succeed.
For internal candidates, the foundation of the ME Academy must be completed and training initiated to become a Zero Defect Practitioner and 6σ Green Belt. External candidates to demonstrate equivalent capability in problem solving and process controlDiversity Inclusion and Belonging (DIB)
