Do you understand the importance of testing products and/or services primarily for safety, efficiency, and fit for purpose? Due to a huge period of growth within BSI, we're looking for a Test Engineer – Mechanical/Gas to join our existing team and carry out test work across a broad range of products.

The role:

Working within a team of engineers focused on the safety of Gas related products, this role offers real diversity and variety, where you will have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of gas products, manufacturers, and tasks.

Strong communication and project management skills are also required for this role as you’ll have constant interaction and engagement with clients at all levels. This role is perfect for an engineer who is looking to apply their technical ability in a client focused role where success will provide the opportunity to progress into a more Senior position.

To be successful in this role you’ll need a sound technical understanding and the skills to build trust based relationships with our clients, understand their requirements and deliver the work with minimal support. You’ll need to put clients at the centre of everything you do and be ready to explore new ideas and ways of working. You’ll be managing multiple projects so good project management skills are a must and you’ll need strong interpersonal skills to confidently present findings to our clients about their products.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

At least a BTEC/HNC (or equivalent) in a discipline related to mechanical engineering, chemistry, or physics.

Ideally you will hold experience in testing gas products/appliances in either a lab environment or for a manufacturer.

Ideally you will hold an awareness of BS EN standards relating to domestic boilers, cookers and fires, and commercial catering and heating appliances.

Good communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports.

Proactive customer focused approach.

Ability to work as a team and to tight time scales.
