WHAT TO EXPECT
Fastener Engineering sits within the Product Engineering Materials group and provides specialist engineering support and direction to many customers within the JLR organisation in order to ensure technically robust, cost effective and environmentally sustainable fixing strategies and solutions. The team are responsible for the design and development of new fasteners, including associated standards and requirements, strategic architecture fixing solutions to drive part rationalisation, cost reduction and the control of fastener part numbering.
Reporting to the Fastener Engineering Group Leader, the successful candidate will work in a cross commodity and architecture driven environment providing expert direction on fixing solutions. The position requires close collaboration with a number of Departments including Product Engineering, PVT, Manufacturing, Purchasing, STA, Service and Vehicle Programmes.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Lead Fastener Testing and collaborate with engineers to prioritize, perform, and report on all joint testing and be responsible for managing DC tools, Residual torque wrench and Ultrasonics load measurements. Support technical discussions/investigations into Fastener/Material technologies, process developments or service failures Manage Laboratory 5S, Health & Safety and General Practices. Support Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments Support the delivery of all Automated Issues Management System / JIRA items and escalate as required to the relevant governance forums.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Excellent communication, influencing and engagement skills with a willingness to learn. Self-motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision and strong project management capabilities with the ability to multitask to tight deadlines. Technical knowledge/experience of metallic materials and technologies Experience with nut runners, DC tools, load cells and Ultrasonics clamp load measurements. Strong PC literacy including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft project, Power point, Excel, Word etc.
