An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test and Measurement Electrical Design Engineer to join our Design team in Test Facilities Engineering within the Civil Aerospace division in Derby.
The Test Facilities Engineering department is responsible for acquiring new capability and modifications of test facilities around the world in support of rig, engine development and new engine production programmes.

What you will be doing:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will provide technical governance for the supply of electrical equipment and installations. You will also:
Work closely with our key suppliers to ensure that the electrical systems installed and used on our test facilities meet legislative requirements and are safe for operation and ongoing maintenance. With the aid of a detailer, produce detailed designs for integrated Low Voltage (<1,000 Vrms, < 1,500 Vdc) electrical distribution systems. Generate verification schedules and furthermore, conduct or support acceptance test procedures. Write concise, unambiguous requirements and specifications. Develop electrical design concepts for preliminary design reviews and contribute to the overall system design. Be responsible to chairing and supporting design reviews and approving pier and sub-tier designs. Work as part of team, against demanding timescales, managing both internal and external resources.

Additionally for this role we are looking for someone who is/has:
Qualified to a degree level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or qualified by experience. Specific knowledge of the appropriate legislation including relevant EU Directives (such as Low Voltage, Machinery Safety, EMC), UK Statutory Instruments (CDM Regulations, PUWER, EaWR) and Standards (for example for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, and safety of machinery). An ability to write concise, unambiguous requirements and specifications. An ability to develop electrical design concepts for preliminary design reviews and to contribute to the overall system design. Familiarity with process control systems, including PLCs and safety-related parts of control systems. Familiarity with safety risk reduction processes (such as HAZOP) and design mitigation solutions. An understanding of Building Information Models and model-based definition such as Amtech Pro-Design, Siemens NX, AutoCAD. An understanding of the design considerations for explosive atmospheres is preferable. Appreciation of project planning and experience in project engineering would also be a benefit. Self-motivated with good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
