CNC Recruitment is currently seeking a Technical Sales Lead for our client in Yeovil area – a well-represented engineering/technical company in the Southwest Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Business Development:
  • Actively boost sales by engaging with new and existing customers.
  • Develop and implement a company sales strategy to expand the customer base. This will include individual product and service strategies.
  • Understand customer needs and offer tailored solutions to meet those needs.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Market Analysis and Product Development:
  • Identify emerging markets and potential areas for expansion.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to bring new products to market.
  • Provide insights from the field to guide future product development.
  • Travel and Networking:
  • Engage in both domestic and international travel for client meetings, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Build and maintain a strong professional network in the industry.
  • Dynamic Work Environment:
  • Adapt to and thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Juggle diverse services and a varied customer base effectively.

Desired Applicant Qualities

Technical Knowledge and Understanding: The candidate should have a good grasp of the technical aspects of the products or services. This doesn't mean they need to be an engineer, but they should understand the products well enough to convincingly explain their benefits and features to clients.

Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and effectively is vital. This includes not just verbal communication, but also written communication, as the role may involve preparing proposals, emails, and reports.

Relationship-Building Skills: The successful candidate must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients. This involves being approachable, trustworthy, and capable of engaging with clients on a long-term basis.

Problem-Solving Ability: The capacity to understand customer needs and challenges, and then effectively match these with the right solutions is key. This often requires creative thinking and a consultative approach to sales.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Given the dynamic nature of the tech industry, a salesperson should be able to adapt to changing market trends, customer needs, and technological advancements.

Drive and Motivation: A high level of self-motivation and a drive to achieve sales targets and goals are essential. This will include being resilient and persistent, especially in the face of rejection or challenges.

Organizational Skills: Being organised is crucial, as the role will involve managing multiple clients, following up on leads, and keeping track of sales progress.

Negotiation Skills: The ability to negotiate effectively, ensuring that deals are profitable for the company while still attractive to the customer.

Teamwork and Collaboration: While sales often involve individual effort, the ability to work as part of a team, particularly in coordinating with other personnel in a small company is highly important.

Cultural and Market Awareness: For a role that involves international travel, awareness of different cultural norms and market conditions can be a significant asset.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in the optics, electronics, aerospace, or defence sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of products and the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Business, Marketing, etc.) is preferred
