Oxford Nanopore’s sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.

The Role...

The Technical Product Management team at Oxford Nanopore Technologies facilitates the successful creation, execution, and launch of new products across the organization such as sequencing kits, devices, and software. This role falls within the software product management team. In this role, the ideal candidate will serve as an Agile Product Owner for a team of software developers who work on our analysis software, EPI2ME. EPI2ME is a cloud and local analysis solution for data that is produced through Nanopore sequencing. 

The team manages the application, works to integrate the application with other software, and adds new workflows to the application. As Technical Product Manager, the ideal candidate will manage the team’s workload through Agile sprints, including requirements gathering, ticket creation, and running Agile ceremonies from standup to retrospective. 

Additionally, the Technical Product Manager will gather customer feedback to identify customer needs and issues and convert this feedback into actionable tasks for the development team and will work closely with more senior product managers and the UX team to plan new features and developments to further improve the product. 

The Technical Product Manager will also contribute to the product roadmap, and serve as the internal subject matter expert within the rest of product management, whilst ensuring the rest of the company is aware of new developments and progress through presentations and documentation and will also communicate changes to the Nanopore Community through release notes and documentation.

The Details...

Work with other teams such as UX, product management, and tech support to help deliver innovative analysis workflows and software solutions  Collaborate with more senior product managers on the roadmap for the analysis software team Mange the day-to-day agile processes of the team as product owner: requirements gathering, ticket creation, troubleshooting, running Agile scrum ceremonies Gather and distill customer feedback and translate that to product requirements for the team  Support sales and marketing with product information and updates Ensure release timelines are hit and manage release activities such as announcements and release notes  Create updates about the product and team progress and is comfortable presenting them to internal audiences large and small  Possible travel to conferences and Nanopore days, not to exceed 10% 

What We Are Looking For...

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, biology, hard science, or computer science preferred A quick learner who isn’t afraid to ask questions and is eager to learn more about nanopore sequencing and analysis  At least 1-2 years of software product management experience in an agile framework Prior experience in the biotechnology industry preferred Familiarity with DNA sequencing analysis and analysis software preferred  Comfortable using Atlassian products including Jira and Confluence  Very organized and able to keep track of multiple projects at once Can effectively communicate between software developers, customers, and other parts of the organization in varying levels of technical details  Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-changing environment with shifting priorities  Ability to manage and optimize team processes using data and team feedback  Possesses innate problem solving skills- able to recognize problems and take action to prevent them from recurring  A team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills  Ability to legally work in the UK and regularly work in-person at the head office in Oxford
