Watford Planned Care Therapy Team are currently looking for band 4 Technical Instructors to work in the community setting.
The position offers experience of a mixed caseload of patients with various pathologies; including amputees, neurological / stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson's disease, falls / balance impairments, orthopaedics, management of long term conditions and palliative / end of life care. The aim is to rehabilitate and maximise the patients' potential, to support and enable patients in a range of activities to promote independent living in their home environment.
The team is a well-established and covers a large area and population size, the position requires assessing and treating patients for the occupational therapy service, providing equipment and intervention for patients in their own homes, liaising with patients, family, carers and other MDT staff.
A full valid driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Main duties of the job
Working with the Occupational therapy team you will assess and treat people in their own home environments. Travelling in your own car across the locality. Provision of therapy and equipment as you assess. Working closely with other members of the team and the wider therapy team consisting of physio's and rehab assistants.
You will be an autonomous practitioner who carries their own caseload and its management, planning your day to see patients, record your documentation on electronic records, order and manage equipment, and stock monitoring of satellite stores.
