Job Description

Are you interested in working oncutting-edge electric motor systemsthat are driving the future of aerospace technology? At ALTEN UK, we are looking for experiencedSystem Test Rig Engineersto join our team inSolihull. This is a unique opportunity to contribute tonext-generation propulsion technologiesfor greener and more efficient aircraft. As a key contributor, you’ll play a pivotal role in testing and validating state-of-the-art electric motor and control systems.

We’re looking for engineers who areindependent, highly skilled, and ready to take ownershipof exciting projects. This role requires a strong commitment to on-site work inSolihull (minimum 4 days a week), and we’re seeking candidates with5+ years of hands-on experiencein the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintaintest rigsfor electric motor systems and components.
  • Conduct comprehensivedynamometer testingfor performance validation of motors, motor control units (MCUs), and converters/inverters.
  • Perform rigoroushands-on testingof electric motors, ensuring compliance withsafety-critical standards.
  • Analyze and interpret data using tools likeLabVIEWorMATLABto optimize test performance and system outputs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support certification and quality assurance processes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, enhance, and refine testing methodologies.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven expertise withdynamometer testingfor electric motors and components.
  • Hands-on experience withmotor testing,motor control unit (MCU) testing, andconverter/inverter testing.
  • Experience insafety-critical environmentssuch asaerospace,defence, orautomotive industries.
  • Strong background intest rig development and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency indata acquisition tools(e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB) and system instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
