Supply Telemetry Coordinator

Join to apply for the Supply Telemetry Coordinator role at Wessex Water.

Are you searching for a new opportunity where you can utilise your knowledge of telemetry alarm management, while also satisfying your passion for working in a forward-thinking and dynamic team? If so, our Supply Telemetry Coordinator role will be a great new opportunity for you!

What you’ll do

You will play a critical role in reducing operational risk and ensuring the management of telemetry alarms. Working in the control room, you will be responsible for the monitoring and initial response to telemetry alarms received from our water production and distribution assets, identifying appropriate staff to attend the site and allocating work for corrective action.

As well as working to alarm priorities, you will apply a context-sensitive approach to alarm management to identify the appropriate response. You will also highlight areas of risk across the wider supply system, resolve recurring alarms and implement procedure improvements. Close liaison and excellent communication with control room staff and operational field teams is essential.

You will form a pivotal part of the operational response to supply alarms and incidents, driving to minimise service failure and maximise an efficient response through data-driven assessments.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Administration and use of CCTV applications
  • Liaison with work scheduling and field teams
  • Alarm changes and process management
  • The remote operation of plant
  • The live analysis of telemetry and other corporate data
  • Following procedures for critical alarms
  • The maintenance and administration of handovers

What you’ll need

Alarms can vary in volume and criticality, so excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail are key to ensure priorities are identified and alarms are always effectively managed.

An understanding of water supply systems or telemetry systems would be ideal, but if you have the aptitude and approach to effectively problem solve, we’ll ensure you get all the training you need to confidently adapt your skills to the role.

You’ll also need to be competent in interpreting data and communicating clear information to stakeholders for action. This is a busy and fast-paced role, so you will need to be comfortable working at pace while being able to deliver important activities, such as coordinating the response to critical telemetry alarms.

Additionally, you’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Liaising with technical staff and the ability to discuss technical concepts
  • Experience working in an operational team/control room
  • The ability to adapt between following strict procedures and using your own initiative
  • Delivering a consistent performance under all workload conditions, including during operational incidents and weather events
  • Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft products

What you’ll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities
  • 25 days’ holiday rising to 28 with length of service
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions)
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions)
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers
  • One paid volunteering day each year
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us

Neurodiversity in UK Space Careers: Turning Different Thinking into a Superpower

The UK space sector has quietly become one of the most exciting places to build a career. From small satellites & launch services to Earth observation, navigation, in-orbit servicing & space data startups, the industry needs people who can solve hard problems in smart ways. Those people are not all “typical” engineers or scientists – and that’s a strength, not a weakness. If you live with ADHD, autism or dyslexia, you may have been told your brain is “too distracted”, “too literal” or “too disorganised” for precision work in the space sector. In reality, many of the traits that made school or previous jobs difficult can be major assets in space engineering, mission operations & space data roles. This guide is written for neurodivergent job seekers exploring UK space careers. We’ll look at: What neurodiversity means in a space industry context How ADHD, autism & dyslexia strengths map to common space roles Practical workplace adjustments you can request under UK law How to talk about neurodivergence in applications & interviews By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of where you might thrive in the UK space sector – & how to turn “different thinking” into a genuine superpower.

Space Sector Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

The UK space sector is no longer a niche curiosity. It is now a strategic industry worth billions, employing tens of thousands of people across nearly 2,000 organisations – and it has been growing faster than the wider UK economy for years. At the same time, employers report serious skills shortages, especially in software, data and systems engineering, with recruitment and retention now cited as key barriers to growth. For job seekers, this is encouraging – but it does not mean every space application is an easy win. For recruiters, competing for talent with tech, defence, energy and finance is only getting harder. This article, written for www.ukspacejobs.co.uk , explores the space sector hiring trends to watch in 2026, aimed at both: Job seekers searching for terms like “space jobs in the UK”, “satellite jobs UK”, or “space engineer roles”; and Recruiters and hiring managers interested in “space sector hiring trends” and “space recruitment UK”.

Space Industry Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK space‑sector hiring has shifted from pedigree‑first screening to capability‑driven evaluation across the full stack—spacecraft systems, payload/RF, flight software, GNC/ADCS, propulsion, structures/thermal, AIT (assembly–integration–test), mission/ground operations, reliability/radiation, and compliance (ECSS, export control). Employers want proof you can build, test, operate and scale space systems safely and economically. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for satellite/spacecraft engineers, payload & RF/MM‑wave, flight & ground software, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal, AIT/test, mission ops, data/EO, and space product/TPM roles. Who this is for: Systems engineers, payload/RF engineers, flight software & FDIR, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal/structures, propulsion, AIT/test, reliability/radiation, QA/compliance, ground segment/cloud, mission operations, EO/data processing, and product/programme managers targeting roles in the UK space ecosystem.
