Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Department: Technical Services

Location: Surrey

Reporting To: Supplier Quality & Development Senior Manager

About the Role

G&P is seeking a skilled Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to support a leading UK automotive OEM at their Surrey manufacturing site. This contract position plays a critical role in managing supplier quality performance, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement within a high-performance supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Manage supplier quality concerns to maintain production flow

Monitor supplier performance (PPM, NCRs) and implement CSL1/CSL2 controls

Develop and implement containment and inspection plans

Lead structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)

Conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are effective

Oversee third-party inspections, sorting, and manage supplier chargebacks

Escalate supplier risks and support mitigation plans

Produce regular reports on quality trends, inspection outcomes, and CSL status

Essential Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing

Strong background in supplier-facing quality roles (automotive/aerospace preferred)

Proficient in quality tools: 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, SPC (X-bar), MSA (Gauge R&R), Cp/Cpk

Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and use metrology tools

Strong data analysis skills using Histograms, Trend Charts, PPM, and Defect Rates

Familiarity with ERP, QMS, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Desirable:

IATF 16949 Certification

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Key Deliverables

CSL inspection plans with entry/exit criteria

Quality reports and trend analysis

Chargeback documentation and supplier accountability tracking

Full documentation of daily inspection activities

Candidate Requirements

Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline

Proven SQA or equivalent quality experience

Reasonable access to the Surrey site (not a deal breaker0

Contract Type: Inside IR35 | £33ph (Umbrella)
