The Role

We’re looking for a forward-thinking Structures Engineer ready to make their mark on some of the most exciting aerospace and advanced engineering projects in the UK. This is your opportunity to work at the cutting edge of structural analysis, design, and certification supporting innovative programmes across the air, land, and sea domains.

Whether you're analysing lightweight metallics, working with composite assemblies, or supporting design for additive manufacture, this role is about impact, variety, and technical excellence.

The Company

Delivering advanced mechanical and structural design services to major players across aerospace, defence, and energy sectors. With a reputation for technical agility and problem-solving capability, the team works with both prime contractors and disruptive innovators alike — offering a unique mix of traditional engineering discipline and future-focused thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform static stress analysis (FEM and hand calculations) on metallic and composite structures

  • Work across the full product lifecycle — from concept design through to certification support

  • Generate detailed technical documentation, including stress reports and substantiation

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver robust, production-ready solutions

  • Support testing and validation, including interpretation of results and recommendations

  • Apply industry standards (e.g. EASA/FAA, Def Stan) and customer-specific requirements

  • Work on R&D and innovation projects around sustainable structures and digital engineering

    Experience / Qualifications Required:

  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Strong working knowledge of FEA tools

  • Experience with composite and metallic structural design in a regulated industry

  • Familiarity with aerospace certification processes (EASA/FAA/Def Stan)

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts with clarity

  • Bonus: Experience in additive manufacturing, lightweighting techniques, or Python scripting

Why Should You Want to Apply?

  • Innovative Projects: Work on everything from next-gen air vehicles to high-performance defence platforms

  • Technical Variety: No two days are the same — see real-world impact of your work across multiple domains

  • Tight-Knit Team: Join a collaborative, engineering-led culture where your ideas and input matter

  • Growth Potential: Be part of a growing company with clear pathways for development and recognition

  • Flexible Working: Hybrid options and a results-driven approach to work-life balance

Space Sector Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Tools, Technologies & Platforms to Learn Now

From launch vehicles and CubeSats to space-based communications, climate monitoring, and lunar exploration—UK space jobs are entering a bold new era. With government investment, private capital, and ESA partnerships driving growth, demand is surging for professionals with the right skills to build and sustain this expanding space economy. Welcome to the Space Sector Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your annual guide to the engineering tools, simulation platforms, programming languages and mission technologies that UK employers are prioritising. Whether you're an aerospace graduate, software engineer, or systems integrator, this radar helps you target the future of UK space careers.

How to Find Hidden Space Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like the RAeS, UKSpace & More

The UK space sector is enjoying rapid growth—driven by satellite constellations, launch services, Earth observation, space science, and defence applications. But while demand for engineers, scientists, mission designers, and space analysts is high, many of the most compelling roles are never advertised publicly. Instead, these opportunities are often filled through professional networks, working groups, innovation clusters, and academic-industry partnerships. This guide will show you how to access hidden UK space jobs by engaging with bodies like the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), UKSpace, British Interplanetary Society (BIS), and regional space clusters. By leveraging membership directories, special-interest groups (SIGs), CPD events, and funded projects, you can position yourself to be first in line—even before roles are posted.

How to Get a Better Space Sector Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Being made redundant from a role in the UK space sector can be disheartening. Whether your work was tied to satellite design, launch services, ground systems, mission operations, or Earth observation analytics, the experience and specialist knowledge you've gained is still highly valuable. The UK government’s Space Strategy, increased commercial investment, and new launch initiatives across Cornwall, Scotland, and Wales continue to drive opportunities in upstream and downstream space technologies. This guide will help you relaunch your career in the UK space sector after redundancy.
