Are you a Structural Design Engineer looking for a new permanent position?

Are you based near Glasgow?

Belcan has an exciting opportunity at our Blantyre, Glasgow office for Structural Design Engineer to join our Marine and Defence team.

Day to day necessary tasks will include, providing liaison and solutions for customer structural problems for the lifting, rigging and jigs required for installation of equipment on board offshore vessels.

You will be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance the technical responsibilities inherent within the role, with the commercial and project timescale associated with delivery. You will be involved in the production of 3D integrated CAD models and associated production output drawings that deliver the engineering design intent. You will be responsible for the technical quality of the engineering solutions you provide and support offshore tasks as directed by the Team Leader.

We are looking for a candidate who is experienced in Marine engineering or a defence or safety critical domain such as Automotive, Aerospace, Transportation and Energy. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of the appropriate tools and techniques that will be used by the Belcan team (e.g. Foran, Windchill, CAD software and FEA software, etc…) and must have an excellent knowledge of handling and lifting equipment, ideally in a marine environment. Structural hand calculations methods and techniques are a must.
