Job Title: Sprinkler Design Engineer

Location: Stourbridge
Salary: Competitive (Based on Experience)
Contract: Permanent

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Sprinkler Design Engineer to deliver top-quality project designs with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the project team to ensure designs are completed on schedule and adhere to technical submission standards. The role also includes mentoring junior designers and attending design coordination meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities – Sprinkler Design Engineer

Develop automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
Conduct hydraulic calculations using tools like Canute and manual methods.
Align sprinkler system layouts with building structures and other services, considering budget constraints.
Participate in client-led design meetings, both onsite and virtually.
Perform site surveys to ensure designs are compatible with site conditions and existing services.
Create and submit 2D drawings for approval, construction, and as-built phases.
Ensure designs meet company BIM and design standards.
Provide daily guidance and mentorship to Trainee Designers.
Support field staff with design-related installation queries and challenges.
Assist in preparing RFIs and other project documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements – Sprinkler Design Engineer

In-depth knowledge of fire sprinkler standards and codes (LPCB, NFPA, FM, BS 9990, BS 9251).
Ability to prioritise and manage workload independently.
LPCB Basic, Intermediate, or FHC certification is desirable.
Proven experience in site surveys, client meetings, and site installations.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Fire Suppression industry.
Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and hydraulic calculation tools (e.g., Canute FHC).
Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong communication skills, able to clearly present information and address queries from managers, clients, AHJs, and the public.
Valid UK driving licence required.
