Job description

As a Skilled Lay Up Operator / Laminator in the aerospace industry, you will have the opportunity to join our client, a leading company in the sector. Your role will involve manufacturing various components using composite, glass, and honeycomb core materials. Utilizing manual laminating techniques, you will produce high-quality composite components for aircraft. Working as part of a larger multi-disciplined team within an automated cleanroom environment, you will contribute to the overall production process.


As a Skilled Operator, you will have an increased level of self-management and empowerment. You will need a disciplined approach to your work, problem-solving abilities, and a determination to succeed with the company. Role Specific
Your key responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to:

Composites lay-up for a variety of types of panels, working to tight tolerances Reporting directly to the section Team Leader and participating within a team to ensure production requirements are achieved safely, on time, and to customer specifications Collaborating with Quality and Engineering departments to meet production requirements Operating under your own initiative with minimal supervision Reading and accurately following work instructions, specifications, and part drawings Approving your own work when requirements, drawings specifications, and standards have been fully achieved Accurately completing work route cards to maintain component traceability Contributing to reducing scrap levels within the business

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience in composites detail manufacture and composite laminating Experience using composite carbon fibre and similar materials Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a recognized allied trade (significant industry experience will also be considered) Good level of dexterity Competence in numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to read and understand technical documentation Good knowledge of health and safety practices Excellent communication skills Drive to succeed individually and as part of a team Positive approach to problem-solving Willingness to participate in training programs and procedures Strong focus on flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude Excellent timekeeping skills

Starting salary: £28,274 Uplifted salary (once AO stamp obtained): £29,112 Hours: 06:00-14.15 (Mon-Thurs) / 06:00-12:00 (Fri)

Lates:

Starting salary: £33,928 (£28,274 + 20% shift allowance) Uplifted salary (once AO stamp obtained): £34,934 (£29,112 + 20% shift allowance) Hours: 14:15-22:20 (Mon-Thurs) / 12:00-18:00 (Fri)

Nights:

Starting salary: £35,342 (£28,274 + 25% shift allowance) Uplifted salary (once AO stamp obtained): £36,390 (£29,112 + 25% shift allowance) Hours: 22:30-6:00 (Mon-Thurs) / 18:00-01:30 (Fri) Share
