What will I do as a Senior Trainer?
As a Senior Trainer, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality, value-driven training programs that ensure excellence and safety across all our routes and regions. You will lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact with Network Rail. You will have the expertise to design and maintain cutting edge learning and assessment solutions.
You will deliver High-Quality Training: Lead the provision of technical, safety, and behavioural training to Network Rail's workforce nationwide, ensuring value for money.
You will be the expert in complex areas: Utilize your subject matter expertise in railway engineering, safety, or operations to deliver comprehensive training programs. You will upskill lead trainers: Coach and mentor other trainers, enhancing their skills and knowledge to maintain high training standards. You will have a national impact: Meeting the training needs of various routes and regions, ensuring consistent and effective training delivery across the network.
About the role (External)
Main ResponsibilitiesSet the benchmark for excellence in the delivery of inspirational technical, safety and behavioural training, assessment, coaching, and mentoring activities. Drive the optimisation of training by using a diverse range of delivery methods including face to face, virtual and digital solutions. Be an expert in the training and behavioural development of the most complex railway engineering or operational areas of competence. Lead, develop and deliver programmes of up-skilling and mentoring of trainers and other industry partners to meet the needs of both current and future skills requirements. Achieve NVQ Level 4 Learning & Development within 18 months of appointment. Actively foster a safety-first, “No-Unsafe-Acts” culture within employees and actively promote the Network Rail Values at every touch point. As an exemplar of best practice and professional attitude, drive Network Rail corporate messages & behavioural communications into the consciousness of employees. Without exception, always act safely; always promote safety awareness and always demonstrate clear compliance and belief in safety. Support the development of apprentices including undergoing relevant safeguarding checks, supporting the assessment of their NVQ’s, task books and work-based learning, and provide the additional technical and support sessions required. Evaluate and revise training by enhancing the learner journey including improvements to trainer capability levels, materials, assessment, aids and equipment and the wider training environment. Be Network Rail Training’s representative at capability development groups and skills forums leading on the development of specific competence areas. Enhance training venues, including satellites and local facilities, refining internal quality procedures, external inspections, and work instructions, demonstrating a personal commitment to continuous improvement. Lead the Training Centre’s ownership of safety for training assets within the area of expertise. Deputise for the Training Delivery Manager, as a Network Rail Manager, always actively support, promote, and enforce company processes, initiatives, messages, policies, whilst actively demonstrating managerial behaviours and values.EssentialThorough knowledge of the technical or operational capability relevant to the role Excellent presentational skills Ability to affect a culture change and to motivate and inspire. Ability to demonstrate the management capabilities of developing, planning, thinking, and achieving. A background, experience, or qualification in adult learning.
