Job DescriptionUltra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the development of the next generation of aerospace products. The role will involve deployment on a diverse portfolio of products initially focused developing Critical Control systems for Civil and Military Aerospace systems. To succeed in this role, candidates will have previous experience developing engineering solutions on ARP4754/DO-178/DO-254 programmes, preferably at the highest DAL level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of solutions for the aerospace industry following a systems engineering approach.
  • Holding discussions with customers resulting in elicitation of key stakeholder requirements.
  • Development and derivation of customer requirements into realizable product requirements.
  • Requirements based verification and validation of product requirements, using manual and scripted methods.
  • Generation of ARP4754/DO-178/DO-254 related Systems artefacts
  • Production of interface control documents, system design documents and other supporting documents.
  • Controlling and managing engineering change throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Preparation of technical proposals including estimations and presentations.

Personal attributes

  • Comfortable working independently and within a team, with the ability to identify the needs of a project or task, taking the initiative where appropriate to undertake the necessary work.
  • An eye for detail focusing on requirements and specification structure, applicability and language.
  • Understanding solution influences on the requirement set.
  • Ability to effectively communicate either verbally or written within a multi discipline team, with internal company authorities or customers.

Expectations, Background and Understanding:

  • Degree educated in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Microsoft Office including Visio, Excel and Word.
  • DOORS (a good working knowledge of DXL is desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience of safety critical solution development in accordance with ARP4754/DO-178/DO-254

Desirable Knowledge/Experience

  • Familiarity/experience with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Familiarity with change control and problem reporting tools and processes.
  • Previous involvement in SOI audits and certification reviews.
  • Systems Architecture including SySML modelling
  • Experience of safety critical solution development in accordance with IEC61508.
  • Knowledge of military aerospace standards.
