About the role
As our Senior Quality Engineer you will assist with the development and implementation of quality system continuous improvement activities that help ensure compliance to relevant regulations and standards.
You will support, maintain, and generate documents in accordance with such regulations and standards, whilst providing independent monitoring and as applicable, act as a delegate for the Quality and Compliance manager. You will also lead the use of structured problem-solving tools and risk management techniques to address non-conformances across the spectrum and use analytics to identify improvement opportunities and lead to resolution, aiming to prevent errors, reduce variation, and enhance customer satisfaction.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBLITLIES:
In your role as our Senior Quality Engineer, you will:

  • Deputize and delegate for the quality manager as required.
  • Support quality teams operational deployment and its effectiveness in execution of day to day activities and to coach the application of Quality tools and techniques
  • Promote and raise awareness of our quality system while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and process discipline within a just culture.
  • Represent MIRUS and/or quality departments as quality focal in customer or project meetings.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the management systems through-out the organization to meet legislative / regulatory requirements, the needs of customers, the business and its stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain the quality manuals, expositions, procedures and processes for compliance to aerospace standards and regulations.
  • Lead, compile, assist and maintain documents, including quality plans, PFMEAs, flow charts, AS9102 first article inspection reports and work instructions.
  • Establish and maintain the internal audit/surveillance program commensurate to our approvals and certifications and ensure that any weaknesses identified are rectified and processes improved as appropriate.
  • Monitor the QMS to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness, conducting periodic reviews with the functional owners, ensuring the update of procedures and processes.
  • Investigate and manage non-conformances / occurrence reports and lead root cause analysis investigation and route cause corrective actions to resolution using structured problem solving techniques.
  • Manage customer quality issues and customer surveillance audits
  • Ensure the collection quality performance data and its analysis to identify corrective or improvement action.
  • Lead improvement or corrective actions, facilitating cross functional work groups as required to achieve success.
  • Monitor and report quality and or business performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Manage the facilitation of NC, RCCA or improvement activities across the business functions.
  • Perform any other activities necessary to ensure the quality department achieves its deliverables and objectives.
    About you
    To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your expertise within a Quality Engineering capacity, a passion for innovation, problem solving abilities and drive for operational excellence along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
  • Degree level or higher, desirable in business and/or technical disciplines.
  • Extensive experience of ISO9001, AS9102, AS9100, ISO17025, CAA Part 21G & J and Defense/Aerospace Quality Standards and requirements.
  • FAI knowledge and understanding
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in quality assurance roles, within an aerospace, automotive or similar highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of quality management systems and associated regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrable experience using Lean / Quality tools (Inc.. 8D methodology, FMEA, SPC, MSA, etc ) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Techniques.
  • Process mapping and creation of standard work / operating procedures and processes and policies.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret engineering information
  • Able to coach, mentor and communicate compliance requirements.
  • Fully versed in the use and application of the full range of structured problem solving tools and techniques.
    Desirable:
    Personal leadership and facilitation in the deployment of quality tools.
    Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
    High level of personal accountability and a strong bias for action.
    Be highly self-motivated, able to work under own initiative, thrive in a challenging environment, be approachable and have a flexible attitude.
    Methodical and organized, with an ability to meet demanding deadlines. • Enthusiastic with drive and high levels of self- motivation
    Eligible to work in the UK and ability to work flexible hours, as required.
    This position may require travel and the individual must hold a current passport and be willing to undertake short and long haul travel on an as required basis.
