Job summary

The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome a Band 7 Senior Practitioner to the team.

This is a fairly new role that was developed as part of our Community Transformation Plan and will give the successful candidate the opportunity to utilise and develop their own clinical leadership and clinical decision making skills while providing clinical oversight to a smaller caseload of patients open to the SCMHT.

The post holder will utilise co-ordination, delegation and prioritisation skills to work with the clinical team to provide excellent patient care. The role involves supporting a nursing stream including a small cohort of staff; Band 6 RMN, a Band 5 RMN, Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner, and Support Workers.

You will work alongside a team of passionate, hard working colleagues in the SCMHT team and will be supported by the Clinical Team Manager, Clinical Lead and Senior Practitioners in the SCMHT.

This post is a full time position ( hours per week) and the working hours will be 8am - 8pm 7 days a week. The CMHT is currently operational Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm so flexible working can be discussed. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan. The post holder will be expected to travel across the Borough to attend satellite clinics across Wigan and Leigh.

This post includes participation in the Bronze on call rota.

Main duties of the job

Key duties willinclude:

Overseeing the clinical management of the caseload, reviewing the practice of other staff. Direct supervision of a chosen staff group To develop and maintain relationships and pathways with other services To promote awareness of the role of SCMHT within local service area/team, GP practices and the wider community. Supporting with service management in conjunction with the team manager Working with the Team Manager to support with policy and service improvement and development Supporting service user, carer and stakeholder involvement Promote a culture of learning, education and professional development Championing quality assurance by establishing quality standards relating to the service user and carer experience, implementing Divisional Action Plans and undertaking complaint investigations Adhere to the principles of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust Policy and local reporting procedure and ensuring junior staff compliance with this.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Core Professional qualifications Registration with appropriate professional body

Desirable

evidence of post-registration study such as a Master's degree in a subject relevant to the specialty of health and social care, leadership or specialist practice appropriate to specialty of CMHT or relevant discipline.

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in a community setting Detailed knowledge and experience of risk assessment and management within community settings.
