To oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and to coordinate P&Ls for allocated business line so that the quality and integrity of the result and the subsequent reporting is to a high standard and understood by users.

To lead and develop teams of subject matter experts, sharing best practice and knowledge across the business. Also, to work closely with the business and wider finance teams in line with their business needs.

Proactively target and standardise identified processes, focusing on processing efficiency and standardisation of processes across the business lines

  • Main responsibilities
    • To take ownership for the preparation of the monthly management accounts, with autonomy, for designated process areas in a timely and accurate manner which meets with both internal and group reporting requirements
    • To be accountable for a team of part qualified accountants and enable them to be given suitable challenge and developing their knowledge and competence
    • Focus on areas of resource utilisation, task coverage, key dependency to ensure efficient and effective working practices
    • To work closely with the Business Line Controlling, Business Analysts, and field based teams to ensure the management accounts team have accountability and responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their balance sheet
    • To continue to build effective working relationships with site and other management and address queries within the monthly accounts, ensuring relevant parties have the knowledge and training required to understanding their accounts
    • Pro-actively identify opportunities to improve our accounting processes and identify savings through optimisation of accounting. To identify process improvements to take advantage of synergies in our processing, and implement through to end
    • To take ownership for, and analyse, the diverse queries that come from the business, and resolve using application of judgement, and act as the technical specialist in the department to support the team and build their capabilities
    • Promote process improvement and support business in maintaining high levels of control and adherence to processes
  • Internal Controls / Internal Audit
    • Co-ordinate all activities regarding internal controls and internal audit at the SSC; ensuring those responsible for delivering actions achieve set deadlines
