Senior Hardware Design Engineer

You will be joining a small dynamic teamcontinually designing and developing world beating products. As a SeniorHardware Design Engineer you will be expected to join our RF and Hardware groupand be involved in the full product lifecycle including requirements, design,test, release and support of new digital, analogue and RF designs.

This is an opportunity to work in a fast pacedbut rewarding environment on RF Technologies across a number of excitingmarkets including defense and aerospace.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each daybrings new opportunities, your core responsibilities will be:

including but not limited to;

·Design ofelectronic circuits, subsystems and systems of varying complexity crossing analog,digital and RF(desirable) domains.

·Complete electronicdesign including;

oSchematiccapture.

oLayoutcapture

oFootprint/symbolcreation

·Maintenanceand update of Altium Library and templates

·Scopingof new systems and technologies both for feasibility and product design.

·Managingof external design houses and resource as required

2.Technical Support and Testing

·Production andManufacturing assistance as required.

·Trouble shooting of hardwareand system issues seen from all areas of the business

·Self testing and troubleshootingof your own design and development work.

·Testing, troubleshootingand updating of existing design and development work produced by otherengineers for our products.

·Complete Design Reviews

·Verification of designsagainst requirement Specifications

·Mentoring of lowergrades assigned to your design function as and when needed.

3. Documentation and Communication including butnot limited to;

·Provide task timeestimates and risk considerations to the project manager and/or RF and Hardwaregroup manager.

·Weekly standup meetingto communicate previous weeks achievements and current weeks priorities.

·Organise and leadtechnical projects including being the lead of Preliminary, Interim andCritical Design Reviews as dictated by company procedures

·Participate in DesignReviews and Project meetings being led by others.

·Contribute to departmentprocesses and procedures

·Creation of design packdocumentation

·Creation of UserInformation and manuals when required.

·Assisting PrincipalDesign Engineer and Project leads with project plans.

·Collaboration and communication with fullengineering team including interacting with other Engineering disciplines toachieve department targets.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills,Abilities, Education)

We each bringsomething to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

·A minimum of 5 yearsexperience in an equivalent role

·The following skills andexperience will be required. Candidates arenotexpected to haveexperience in all areas;

oDigitalcircuit design including micro-processors, FPGA’s and associated high speedperipherals.

oAnaloguecircuit design such as power supplies.

oRFcircuit design

oLayoutexperience.

oEMCand CE marking experience.

oDesignfor IPC

·Practical experience of PCBbring up and test

·Self-motivated andenthusiastic.

·Strong team player with goodinterpersonal skills.

·Ability to work in a team andinteract with other Engineering disciplines.

·Ability to produce resultsunder pressure

·Good analytical skills.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities

·A minimum of 7 yearsexperience in an equivalent role.

·Experience with AltiumDesigner

·The following skills andexperience would also be beneficial;

oBasicembedded firmware skills used to exercise and test hardware designs.

oExperienceof designing electronic circuits and sub-assemblies for use in military orairborne applications.

oExperienceof designing for and test/verification MIL-STD’s and DO160.

oTestand verification using tools such as JTAG Boundary Scan Testing

oExperienceof test equipment such as oscilloscopes, analysers and signal generators.

Education & Certifications

·Required is aBachelors degree in Electronics or related subject (or work experienceequivalent to)

·Masters in Electronics or related subject is desirable.

Security

·British Citizen orability to obtain required security clearance.

Travel & Working Environment

·Travel unlikely

·Onsite working including working from home policy.
