This partnership marks a bold new era for Lyst, as we accelerate our vision and work together to transform the future of fashion shopping through AI and technology.

At Lyst, we obsess over the customer, providing a search & discovery experience which offers inspiration, fulfilment, and personalisation. We believe that fashion is amazing but shopping for fashion often isn't, and use our technology, data and creativity to bring more joy, greater choice and fewer fails. Our mission is to help fashion shoppers make better choices and help fashion partners find better audiences as the category-leading destination for every fashion shopper.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Member Experience squad. This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional team focused entirely on elevating the journey for our registered Lyst members.

You will be instrumental in developing and optimizing features related to user personalization, stock/price alerting systems, and creating member-exclusive functionality. Your work will span across the entire membership ecosystem, including the primary website, mobile application, CRM database, and our push-notification/email services. Our collective goal is to engineer seamless, engaging experiences that maximize member retention and value.

Requirements

Core Responsibilities

Lead the development and maintenance of features (both client-side and server-side) critical to our e-commerce platform. The primary development stack involves Python (using the Django framework) for the backend and JavaScript/TypeScript (with React) for the frontend. Build features that gracefully integrate with internal/external APIs and services. Take end-to-end ownership of features, from initial technical design and planning through to production deployment, ensuring measurable business impact. Author dependable, highly tested code, utilizing tools like pytest, Jest with React Testing Library, Storybook, and Cypress for complete coverage. Ensure platform performance and stability by actively leveraging observability tools. Promote engineering excellence by creating high-quality, practical documentation. Our infrastructure is entirely hosted on AWS; you will work hands-on with services such as Kubernetes, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, SQS, SNS, and S3. Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other engineers to translate product vision into effective, delivered value. Implement new features as controlled A/B experiments and rigorously measure their impact. Scale and maintain the system responsible for delivering email and push notifications to our user base.

Requirements

Demonstrated expertise with Python and robust backend web frameworks (we use Django, but all experience welcome) Deep proficiency in React, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals. A comprehensive understanding of web architecture and how the full stack interacts. Ability to produce clear, maintainable, and resilient code. Exceptional knowledge of automated testing methodologies, particularly unit testing, is required to guarantee production quality. A strong proactive desire to refactor and improve existing codebases rather than simply applying patches.

Values & Mindset

You possess an inherent curiosity and the drive to take full ownership over improving systems. You are highly detail-oriented and focused on quality improvement. You are a collaborative team player who communicates with clarity and humility. You must be able to convert complex design ideas into coherent execution plans. You demonstrate a clear sense of ownership over the team's features and services. Experience iteratively building, refactoring existing systems, and authoring new code is required.

Impact in Your First 90 Days (Goals & Development)

The following targets outline what we expect you to master and contribute within your first three months:

Provide timely, actionable, and constructive feedback during pull request reviews to raise the standard for the entire team. Who this is for: Systems engineers, payload/RF engineers, flight software & FDIR, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal/structures, propulsion, AIT/test, reliability/radiation, QA/compliance, ground segment/cloud, mission operations, EO/data processing, and product/programme managers targeting roles in the UK space ecosystem.

Why Space Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

The UK’s space sector is growing fast — from satellite systems and Earth observation to satellite communications, space robotics, propulsion, space data analytics, and mission operations. But the nature of space work is changing. Projects involving satellites, launch systems, space robotics and ground infrastructure are now embedded in regulation, public perception, human interaction and cross-disciplinary design. Space careers in the UK used to be dominated by engineers, astrophysicists, systems analysts and telemetry experts. Today, they increasingly demand fluency not only in aerospace, software, electronics & data, but also in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. After all, space systems operate under treaties, privacy constraints, public scrutiny, international collaborations and human interfaces. In this article, we explore why space careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how those allied fields intersect with space work, and what job-seekers & employers must do to thrive in this evolving cosmos.

UK Space Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Space Department

The UK space sector is rapidly expanding. With growth in satellite design, Earth observation, communications, launch systems, space science, downstream applications, and regulatory and operational services, there’s rising demand for skilled professionals across many disciplines. Building a high-impact space organisation requires well-defined team structures, clear roles, strong collaboration, and alignment across engineering, science, operations, regulation, and commercial functions. If you are applying for roles via UKSpaceJobs.co.uk or hiring into your company, this guide will help you understand the principal roles you’ll find in a space team, how they interact during mission lifecycles, what skills UK employers expect, salary norms, common challenges, and best practice for structuring space teams that succeed.
