Senior Audiologist/Clinical Scientist - hours per week 12-month Fixed Term Contract Are you bored with your existing job? Are you looking for a New Beginning in the New Year? Then this role is for you! An exciting opportunity has become available for a 1-year Fixed Term Band 5/6 Senior Audiologist depending on experience to join our friendly team. The post holder will have the opportunity to train in a specialist area within the department and the opportunity to attend funded CPD.

The post holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to our patients within a supportive audiology team. We are looking for an individual with experience in Audiology including working with complex patients or someone that would like to learn a specialism in an encouraging NHS department. Good communication skills are essential, as is leadership and excellent patient care attitude. You will have a BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications, and be registered, with the ACHS or HCPC, and have some post-qualification experience working in the NHS or other Healthcare Organisation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work autonomously as an Audiological Scientist with adults, children and neonates, within the Audiology team. They will perform a range of specialist clinical activities including diagnostics and rehabilitation and provide an Adult Audiology service at satellite clinics and in patient's homes as required.

Job responsibilities

Complex clinic ( paediatric assessment, vestibular assessment) which may include carrying out specific test or procedures, documenting findings, completing clinical reports and communicating with patients / their families regarding findings and management

Maintain a good level of expertise in routine and non-routine testing and rehabilitation methods, to include technical expertise in a range of techniques and procedures. The latter may involve new or emerging technologies and knowledge.

Act as a point of contact for more junior members of the team ( Assistant and Associate Audiologists, Audiologists and less experiences clinical scientists) to discuss cases to ensure all patients receive an equitable service and high quality care.

Transporting expensive equipment, stock (to include hearing aids and consumables) to outstations and undertaking visits to schools as needed.

To keep the patient management system (Auditbase) up to date so that patients progress is monitored and rehabilitation schedules are adhered to, and stock is appropriately managed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

MSc Audiology or equivalent MSc Hearing therapy or equivalent Professional registration with HCPC as a clinical scientist or RCCP as an Audiologist.

Desirable

Evidence of further training in a specialist area of Audiology

Knowledge

Essential

In depth knowledge of current BSA recommendations and protocols. Have the ability to interpret complex test results and write concise reports suitable for both patients and professionals. Familiar with clinical audit and the audit cycle. Ability to perform complex physiological testing Ability to work to required deadlines

Desirable

Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling, Fire Safety & First Aid British Sign Language Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or similar Special area of interest within Audiology

Significant experience working within an NHS Audiology Service Significant experience managing patients with complex auditory needs Significant experience in rehabilitation and counselling with adults
