SEND Teaching Assistant - From Nursing to Nurturing - Bring Your Care Skills into the Classroom

Are you a nurse, healthcare assistant, or nursing student looking for a role that is both rewarding and balanced?

A specialist SEND school in West Derby is looking for caring and dedicated people to support children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), global delay, and complex medical needs. Many of the pupils are non-verbal and use Makaton, PECS or BSL to communicate. Every small achievement you help them reach is a moment to be proud of.

If you have experience of supporting others with care, patience and empathy, your skills are exactly what our children need.

What You'll Be Doing

Providing hands-on support for pupils with complex physical, medical and learning needs.

Using your clinical knowledge to assist with PEG feeding, epilepsy care, mobility support and personal care.

Supporting non-verbal pupils through Makaton, PECS and sensory-based learning activities.

Working closely with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to create a safe and supportive environment.

Celebrating every success, however small, and helping pupils grow in confidence each day.

Who We're Looking For

Qualified nurses, healthcare assistants or student nurses looking for a new challenge in education.

People with experience in paediatrics, complex care, learning disabilities or support work.

Confident individuals who can assist with personal care, mobility and medical routines (training provided if required).

Calm, patient and caring people who want to make a real difference in children's lives.

Team players with a positive attitude and a commitment to helping every child reach their potential.

What's On Offer

Term-time hours to support a healthy work-life balance.

A welcoming and supportive team within a West Derby SEND school.

Ongoing training in moving and handling, hoisting, PEG feeding and safeguarding.

Refer a friend and receive up to £250.

A £100 joining bonus once you complete your first 10 shifts.

The opportunity to use your care skills in a new, meaningful way and make a real difference every day.

You've cared in hospitals, now care in classrooms.
Whether you are a qualified nurse, a nursing student or an experienced carer, this is your opportunity to bring your compassion and skills into education and change young lives for the better.

This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for satellite/spacecraft engineers, payload & RF/MM‑wave, flight & ground software, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal, AIT/test, mission ops, data/EO, and space product/TPM roles. Who this is for: Systems engineers, payload/RF engineers, flight software & FDIR, GNC/ADCS, power/thermal/structures, propulsion, AIT/test, reliability/radiation, QA/compliance, ground segment/cloud, mission operations, EO/data processing, and product/programme managers targeting roles in the UK space ecosystem.

Why Space Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

The UK’s space sector is growing fast — from satellite systems and Earth observation to satellite communications, space robotics, propulsion, space data analytics, and mission operations. But the nature of space work is changing. Projects involving satellites, launch systems, space robotics and ground infrastructure are now embedded in regulation, public perception, human interaction and cross-disciplinary design. Space careers in the UK used to be dominated by engineers, astrophysicists, systems analysts and telemetry experts. Today, they increasingly demand fluency not only in aerospace, software, electronics & data, but also in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. After all, space systems operate under treaties, privacy constraints, public scrutiny, international collaborations and human interfaces. In this article, we explore why space careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how those allied fields intersect with space work, and what job-seekers & employers must do to thrive in this evolving cosmos.

UK Space Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Space Department

The UK space sector is rapidly expanding. With growth in satellite design, Earth observation, communications, launch systems, space science, downstream applications, and regulatory and operational services, there’s rising demand for skilled professionals across many disciplines. Building a high-impact space organisation requires well-defined team structures, clear roles, strong collaboration, and alignment across engineering, science, operations, regulation, and commercial functions. If you are applying for roles via UKSpaceJobs.co.uk or hiring into your company, this guide will help you understand the principal roles you’ll find in a space team, how they interact during mission lifecycles, what skills UK employers expect, salary norms, common challenges, and best practice for structuring space teams that succeed.
