Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Robotics Engineer to join our food manufacturing team in Manchester. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, programming, and maintaining robotic systems and automation solutions to enhance production efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety. This role requires a strong understanding of robotics integration within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Robotic System Development:

    • Design, program, and integrate robotic systems tailored to food manufacturing processes.
    • Develop and implement automated solutions to streamline production lines, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  2. System Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Conduct regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on robotic equipment to minimize downtime.
    • Analyze system performance and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reliability.
  3. Process Optimization:

    • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation and robotic enhancements.
    • Optimize workflows and processes to increase output and reduce manual labor.
  4. Project Management:

    • Lead the installation and commissioning of robotic systems, ensuring timely project delivery within budget.
    • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with external suppliers for system components and support.
  5. Training and Support:

    • Train and guide the operations team on the safe use and basic troubleshooting of robotic systems.
    • Provide technical support and create documentation for robotic operations.
  6. Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure all robotic systems comply with regulatory requirements, including food safety and health & safety standards.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for automated systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3+ years of experience in robotics engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with robotic arms, PLCs, and vision systems (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Siemens).
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or ROS.
    • Knowledge of CAD software for designing robotic components.
    • Familiarity with automation tools, sensors, and machine vision systems.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards.
  • Certifications in robotics or automation (e.g., FANUC Robotics Certified Engineer).

Requirements
Skills / Qualifications: • Knowledge on PLC, either Siemens/ Allen Bradley • Knowledge on PLC and SCADA system • Basic understanding of RTU and Telemetry is a plus but not mandatory • Experience in the water industry is a plus but not mandatory Key Criteria: You should have completed qualifications in a relevant field, such as: • ONC, NVQ Level 3, or an equivalent qualification, or a time-served apprenticeship. • At least 2+ years of experience in PLC Programming • A full, valid UK driving license is required.
