Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join the team and support the service delivery of Renal Dialysis for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
As a Renal Technologist you will be working within the Renal Technical Services department to provide technical support, ensuring safe and effective operation of the equipment and services required for Dialysis throughout our trust sites, satellite units and to a growing population of Home Patients.
This includes servicing and repairs to dialysis machines, water treatment equipment and other equipment such as therapy chairs.
Main duties of the job
To offer a comprehensive service to the Renal Directorate, providing total technical support to the nursing and medical staff and to the renal patients and their carers. To ensure that all dialysis and associated equipment used within the Directorate is fully operational and maintained to the highest standards. Because of the multi-site nature of the department, the renal technologist will be required to work from any of the dialysis units operated by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust As well as the Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals, dialysis treatment is supplied at satellite units at Ealing, Hayes, Central Middlesex, West Middlesex, St Charles, Watford and Northwick Park Hospitals as well as to a population of home patients.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications
Essential
Degree, HND, HNC, BTEC, OND, ONC or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline, Electronics, Mechanics etc.
Desirable
Diploma in Renal technology
Experience
Essential
Demonstration of competency working as a Renal Technician or equivalent technical service experience - working for a commercial dialysis company or in an electronics/engineering role. Demonstrable experience in electro medical engineering workshop practices and techniques with a good level of renal dialysis experience including preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, safety, acceptance testing and procurement.
Desirable
Registered with the Register of Clinical Technologists Member of the Association of Renal Technologists (ART)
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential
Sound understanding of scientific and engineering technologies used in medical equipment. electrical safety. Must be able to work as part of a team. Must be able to think laterally.
Desirable
A full driving licence would be desirable.
