Reinsurance & Catastrophe Mgt Specialist

In this role you will be responsible for the scope of Reinsurance and Catastrophe Management. This diverse range of topics is handled by a dedicated team, involving collaboration with a wide range of other functions. Topics range from administrative/process to technical analysis to negotiation/coordination/presentation.

What you do

  • AzP Reinsurance framework: Development and implementation of state of the art reinsurance framework for our global Travel portfolio in order to protect and optimise our P&L and facilitate business growth. Create and execute opportunities to automate
  • Inwards reinsurance: Contribute to the design and structuring of more innovative business deals that utilise reinsurance features, such as fronting, captives, stop loss, risk sharing, special cessions. Efficient and timely execution of deals.
  • Protection: Support, enhance and challenge, from the data delivery phase to the reinsurance design and execution end.
  • Financial Optimisation: Management of financial/solvency optimisation initiatives, including technical input, coordination and project management
  • CAT accumulation: Analysis, design, and execution of new approaches to enhance maturity of cat management, including modeling, monitoring/appetites, and pricing, utilizing advanced data analytics and AI-driven modeling techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Projects: Pro-active input on reinsurance perspective for projects deemed relevant
  • M&A: Assessment of targets for Reinsurance purposes, including Due Diligence reporting (i.e. tax, legal, regulatory compliance, etc.)
  • Committees, presentations, training, culture: Contributions on both Travel LoB side and generally for the Reinsurance function, including leading the credit risk committee
  • Collaboration in CUO area: Work with pricing, data analytics, governance, data and business/sales functions to enhance maturity and support business.
  • Audits/reviews: Manage reviews and close all findings in a timely manner


What you bring

  • Significant experience in the (re)insurance industry
  • Quantitative technical analysis skills required
  • Project management and process design experience
  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional senior stakeholders
  • Multi-country, multi-cultural reinsurance exposure preferred
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, ideally Master’s. Preferably in Business/Finance, Mathematics/Statistics or Engineering
  • Ideally an actuarial qualification
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of best practices and trends in reinsurance
  • Strong IT user skills, very good user knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English
