We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our team at York on the Coronary Care Unit.

CCU has 8 monitored beds and an extensive cardiac telemetry service which continuously remotely monitors patients throughout the hospital.

The nursing team includes a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Cardiac Outreach Service, receiving referrals for patients in ED or throughout the hospital. The cardiac outreach nurse will review and clinically assess patients with chest pain, ST elevation, raised troponin, arrhythmias and heart blocks.

We provide nurse led cardioversion, diagnoses of STEMI and referral / transfer to a centre for PPCI, thrombolysis, emergency pacing and non-invasive ventilation. We also attend all crash calls on site and are able to lead a cardiac arrest.

You will be expected to deliver high standards of care, following best practice, protocols & pathways. You should have a keen interest in nursing cardiology patients in an acute unit, with a commitment to learn & develop your skills.

It is desirable that you have completed the ILS course and an ECG course, but essential that you have at least completed a BLS.

Main duties of the job

Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures Maintain a safe and clean working environment Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures Education and Training
