Quality Team Leader

Location: Staverton

Contract: Permanent


We are recruiting for Quality Team Leader who will oversee the Quality Control team, ensuring all inspection process are implemented and maintained, ensuring daily that the inspection team is following process and schedule of production.

This role is a permanent opportunity in a company working on high-tolerance projects using exotic materials. Our clients products are advanced and span across a diverse set of industries including aerospace, defence, marine, medical, oil & gas and nuclear.


Role Responsibilities of a Quality Team Leader:

  • Oversee the Quality Control (QC) function within the production environment, ensuring all inspection processes are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Manage and coordinate daily activities of the inspection team to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Ensure that all components and products conform to internal, customer, and regulatory quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain inspection procedures, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for production teams regarding QC-related issues and concerns.
  • Support the Production Manager in implementing corrective and preventive actions based on inspection findings.
  • Conduct and oversee first article inspections (FAI) and final inspections, ensuring proper documentation and traceability.
  • Maintain and manage all inspection equipment, ensuring calibration and functionality for accurate measurements.
  • Train, mentor, and develop inspection staff to enhance skills and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Lead investigations into non-conformances, collaborating with production and engineering to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inspection data, trends, and key quality metrics to management.
  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to verify incoming materials and components meet required quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organised inspection area, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements within the inspection function to drive efficiency and quality enhancements.



An Ideal candidate for the Quality Team Leader position would have:

  • Proven experience in Quality Control within an AS9100 or ISO 9001-certified environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, measurement tools, and industry best practices.
  • Experience leading or managing an inspection team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawings.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to quality improvement.
  • Certified in AS9100 / ISO 9001 auditing (desirable).
  • Proficiency in the use of quality inspection software and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Formal training in measurement techniques, including CMM programming (preferred).
