Quality Management Systems Engineer

Salary - £42K - £50K

About the Role:
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective and efficient Quality Management System (QMS) that meets the requirements of EN9100, along with any customer-specific standards and other applicable quality standards. The QMS Engineer will work closely with process owners across the organization to ensure that key processes are documented, maintained, and followed. This position is critical to enhancing the organization’s competitive edge by supporting the development of a robust QMS and processes that enable operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement an optimized Quality Management System (QMS) that is clearly understood and adopted across the organization.
  • Define and lead improvement initiatives within the QMS.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Monitor QMS effectiveness, recommending and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Provide and promote the use of methodological tools (e.g., 8D, FMEA, Lean, 6S).
  • Oversee the deployment of the QMS throughout the company and ensure consistent application.
  • Coordinate and manage the organization’s audit policy, developing and executing an internal audit program.
  • Lead and facilitate external accreditation audits to maintain EN9100 certification.
  • Ensure that quality-related authorizations and accreditations are obtained and properly managed.
  • Develop and manage internal communication strategies related to the QMS.
  • Continually refine and improve the QMS based on process reviews, key performance indicators (KPIs), and organizational needs.
  • Support management reviews and monitor improvement actions to ensure effectiveness.
  • Identify and implement best practices for quality methodologies and tools (risk analysis, performance improvement, decision support, cause analysis, etc.).
  • Provide guidance on appropriate methods and tools for quality management and support their adoption within operational sectors.
  • Design and coordinate relevant training programs to improve QMS understanding and adherence across the organization.

    Qualifications:

    Essential Qualifications:
  • Certified EN/AS9100 Lead Auditor

    Desirable Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent

    Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in implementing and enhancing AS/EN9100 quality systems in an aerospace environment.
  • Strong background in conducting internal and external audits.
