Quality Inspector - Aerospace Manufacturing (12-Month FTC)
📍 Location: Wolverhampton, West Midlands
💼 Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term (Minimum)
🕒 Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday (Early Finish Friday)

Shorterm Group is proud to partner with a global leader in aerospace engineering to recruit a skilled Quality Inspector for an exciting fixed-term opportunity based in Wolverhampton. This role plays a vital part in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and maintaining high standards across both internal manufacturing and the wider supply chain.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced quality professional to contribute to a forward-thinking, performance-driven culture while enjoying a great work-life balance and career satisfaction.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual inspections using micrometers, height gauges, shadowgraphs, vision systems, etc.
  • Support machinists and operators through technical inspection guidance.
  • Conduct inspections using Zeiss Calypso and PC-DMIS systems.
  • Carry out AS9102 First Article Inspections (piece parts, assemblies, and CMM prove-outs).
  • Prepare non-conformance reports and support root cause investigations.
  • Provide operator inspector training and support cross-functional inspection needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

    ✅ Required Skills & Experience:
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Strong experience with first article inspections, manual inspection tools, and quality systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Q-Pulse or similar systems for reporting and document control.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.

    💡 Desirable:
  • Experience with Zeiss CMM, Calypso, and PC-DMIS.
  • Aerospace sector background.
  • Green Belt or Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Experience with PPAP and APQP processes.

    📆 Working Hours:
  • Monday to Thursday: Start between 7:30-8:00 AM, finish between 4:15-5:00 PM
    Friday: Finish between 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Overtime may occasionally be available
