Deimos is currently selecting a Project Manager to support the growing number of projects within the Flight Segment Directorate in the UK. The Flight Segment Directorate delivers projects related to spacecraft avionics, space systems and mission engineering; undertaking all phases of the design, develop, build, and test for space missions. The candidate would support DEIMOS in several projects regarding through typical project management tasks, contact with customers, preparation of bids, etc.


Deimos is developing projects for the European Commission, UKSA and ESA to provide cutting edge technologies for GNC, AOCS, CubeSats and Small Sats.


Main Duties:


The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of spacecraft AOCS/GNC projects currently being undertaken for a range of institutional (ESA, UKSA, European Commission) and commercial customers.They may also be expected to support proposal preparation for new similar projects from time to time.


Education:


Required:A recognised Engineering Degree (e.g. Aerospace Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Computer Science Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer).


Desired:A recognised Project Management Qualification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, etc.)


Professional Experience:


Minimum 5 years in Project Management (preferably in Space industry or other engineering fields)


Technical Requirements:


The candidate should have some, but not all, of the skills below:

  • Experience managing projects (time and resources management, project planning, risk mitigation, …) involving customers at different levels.
  • Knowledge of financial management, technology management and internal controls
  • Experience dealing with customers and suppliers.
  • Used to multicultural teams and international environments.
  • Commercial approach.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (JIRA, MS Project, Excel).
  • Strong drive for OQOTOC (On-Quality, On-Time, On-Cost) philosophy.
  • Experienced user in Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Experience preparing and presenting reports at different levels.


Any of the following skills are desirable:

  • Knowledge of the space sector or other complex engineering environments.
  • Technical writing, including user-facing documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers as well as with team members in remote locations.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive change in an expanding organization.
  • Experience with institutional customers such as ESA and European Commission.


Language Skills:


English (C1 level as minimum)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skill to deal with customers and providers all around the world.
  • Leadership to motivate stakeholders and team members.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently and on multiple tasks at the same time.
