Job Description

Are you someone who loves delighting clients, putting them first by making plans for delivery, inspiring teams to successfully make it happen, and adapting to change? Are you a Leader? If that's you, then we are waiting for you to join our engineering project management team.

Our team within the nuclear business specialises in taking on some of the most significant engineering projects in the nuclear sector. Our business focuses on providing engineering services to the following key clients:

For EDF Energy in the UK and for Nawah Energy Company in the Middle East, we help ensure the on-going safe, reliable, low carbon nuclear generation of their power stations. In addition for EDF Energy we are helping with the preparations for safe and efficient defuelling at end of station life.

For Rolls-Royce we provide engineering services covering the development and in-service support of nuclear propulsion systems for UK defence including significant infrastructure projects.

For Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS formally Magnox Ltd) we provide client-side engineering and Project Management support to all sites in the UK and the central engineering function, as well as delivering large packages of multi-disciplinary design and engineering.

In addition, we also support other clients and parts of the AtkinsRéalis business covering the full lifecycle from new build through to deconstruction, defence and net zero energy projects to name a few.

The project management opportunities we have are varied in size and therefore responsibility levels, from delivering our consultancy engineering services, to being embedded within the client organisation delivering their engineering projects and programmes. As such we are looking for junior, mid-grade, and senior project managers, part time or full time. Consequently, if you're early in your project management career and only satisfy some of the requirements we would still like to hear from you.

Your purpose:

Working within our Nuclear and Power business sector, as a Project Manager you will work with teams to enable the delivery of AtkinsRéalis technical design and engineering projects or work directly for our key clients embedded into their major programmes.

As an AtkinsRéalis project manager, you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Working closely with our clients to accurately capture project requirements.
  • Working with AtkinsRéalis teams to develop plans, bids and solutions to meet those needs.
  • Proactively managing all aspects of project delivery, including forecasting, control, change management, risk management and reporting on project progress.
  • Instilling client confidence in AtkinsRéalis' project delivery through your professionalism and care.
  • Working to secure, Lead and develop the resources required to deliver tasks. You will initiate and manage projects in line with AtkinsRéalis' internal Business Management System processes.
  • You will support the development, implementation and sharing of best practice for project management.
  • You will also support our operational management through project financial planning and reporting, resourcing and management of cash flow within projects.
  • Although you will be based at one of our offices (Key hubs in Bristol, Glasgow, Derby, Sheffield, Epsom and Suffolk), at AtkinsRéalis we support hybrid working, prioritising our clients' needs, but splitting time between AtkinsRéalis home office, client, and home.

What can you bring?

If you enjoy thinking ahead, anticipating and preventing project problems before they happen and are exceptionally well-organised in everything you do then we'd love to hear from you.

In this role you'll quickly and easily establish a rapport and build relationships with others, using this to delight our clients and help win new or repeat work. You'll love to Lead, motivate and inspire your team to make things happen. You'll enjoy managing commercial risks agreeing the best way forwards quickly and easily. You pay attention to the wider context and bigger picture to inform your commercial approach. You are naturally focused on the small things that others easily miss, ensuring contract documents, such as offer and variations, are clear, concise, and without ambiguity. You'll thrive on embedding robust project management arrangements and plans, covering all eventualities to maximise success of technically complex engineering projects. We'd really like to hear from you if you hold a recognised engineering degree and / or a recognised project management qualification. These qualifications are beneficial, but not essential - if you have what it takes to Lead and have significant practical PM experience, we can develop you as you work with us.

Why work for AtkinsRéalis?

We help to power our world through exciting new technologies and intelligent cybersecurity systems on projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.

We value your diversity and believe that everyone deserves to thrive - no exceptions. You'll be part of a culture committed to finding new talent from underrepresented groups. We're Disability Confident, an Inclusive Employer, and support STEM Returners. We also want to see more women in senior roles at AtkinsRéalis. If applying to this role please do not make reference to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance.
