Overview

Waters is seeking an experienced SAP VC/AVC Architect with deep expertise in Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) to lead product configuration design and implementation supporting business growth, new products, and enhanced customer experience. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders across product management, sales, and operations to translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-performing SAP VC/AVC models within S/4HANA and SAP CPQ.

This is a Hybrid position

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to gather product configuration and quoting requirements. Translate business needs into AVC and CPQ technical specifications. Design and optimize AVC models in SAP S/4HANA aligned with catalog strategy and guided selling. Ensure alignment across SAP ERP, SAP CPQ, and Sales & Distribution process. Lead AVC model development including classes, characteristics, and dependency logic making sure cloud performance is kept in mind. Collaborate across functions to ensure timely readiness and minimal business disruption. Establish best practices for variant modeling within the full landscape, documentation, and change control. Conduct peer reviews and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards. Provide training and develop reference materials for ongoing support and scalability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field. 8+ years of experience in SAP VC/AVC modeling. Deep understanding of product configuration, BOM management, and commercial enablement. Hands-on experience with SAP PLM, MM, ECM, and CPQ & S/4HANA (preferred). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-centric mindset. Proven ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience in regulated industries (., life sciences, manufacturing) is a plus. Collaborative team player who can also work independently and proactively.
