Job Title:Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer

Salary:up to £55,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Location:Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Manchester

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer. The role can be based at any of the following sites: Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Manchester and offers the opportunity for hybrid working and flexible working hours. Individual circumstances can be discussed.

They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

As part of the Electrical Verification Team, you will be involved in the verification and validation of the power system, conducting analysis, and performing calculations to support the maturity and design of the electrical platform.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of an electrical power system
  • Management and analysis of the electrical load budget
  • Developing and validating electrical models
  • Collaborating with multi-discipline teams, suppliers and stakeholders on matters related to the power system
  • Preparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations communicating results and advising recommendations
  • Developing and mentoring other team members

About You:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in electrical engineering
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
  • Knowledge of high power and medium voltage power systems and distributions
  • Experience conducting electrical load budget and load flow analysis
  • An understanding in power system analysis software tools (e.g., ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, MATLAB)
  • Stakeholder management experience


You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
