Salary: £26,000 - £28,500 per annum dependent on experience and skills

HYDRO is a global aerospace company headquartered in Germany's Black Forest. Our UK facility, co-located on the Rolls-Royce campus on Victory Road, Derby, is our largest UK customer. The site is conveniently close to the A50, M1, and M42, making it easily accessible from Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester. Our UK business specializes in aerospace tooling, manufacturing, and sourcing tools for engine and airframe build and repair, working with high-profile OEMs to deliver quality products consistently. This is an exciting time to join our business as we expand our UK base to include the in-house assembly of our stands on site.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Painter they will be responsible for the preparation and application of paint tooling in line with customer specifications. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the paint equipment is in good order and working correctly. Performing internal quality checks, and maintaining good housekeeping in the paint spraying area.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of surfaces ready for paint spraying of tooling to specification including the removal of oil, grease and contaminants by degreasing and dusting.
Report any defects to the relevant team including but not limited to undrilled holes, laminations or peeling.
Ensure the correct shot blasting surface finish is applied.
Responsible for ensuring that paint to be applied complies with the paint specification sheet and customer specifications.
Ensure that paint shelf life has not been exceed before application commences.
Ensure the paint spraying equipment is working correctly and that all hoses and airlines are in good order.
Select the correct tip for the type of paint being applied and fix into the spray gun as per manufacturers instructions.
Application of even coat of paint over all surfaces and the mix is vigorated as recommended by the manufacturer;
Check that paint applied meets the correct wet film thickness, continuously checking the wet film gauge as work progresses;
After paint application ensure required amount of time is allocated to ensure surfaces are dry before turning.
Ensure all surfaces have been evenly painted and that there are no misses.
When minimum drying or curing times have elapsed, dry film thickness readings will be taken by To ensure the permissible minimum thickness has been achieved. Readings must be recorded.
On completion of the work, flush unused paint from pump and feed lines and thoroughly clean with the manufacturers recommended cleaning solvent.
General workshop duties including the good housekeeping of the paint spray area.
Be competent and maintain a working knowledge of all relevant industry codes and standards as applicable to this role.
Operate and maintenance of sand blast equipment.
Operate hand sanding machines.
Prepare sandblasting bays, chamber, portable units, booths or open areas and operating controls to blast a variety of metal.
The safe operation of the fork lift truck, lifting equipment and other mechanical equipment at all times.
Manual handling of items following laid down procedures and adhering to Health & Safety standards. 
Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Operations Director and Operations Manager.

About You:

Proven knowledge and experience in with the application of paint spraying
Previous experience using hand-held tools.
Ability to read and understand build instruction manuals to ensure products conform to specific dimensions and meet required standards.
FLT experience is desirable.
Overhead crane experience would be advantageous, but training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Some previous mechanical/manufacturing knowledge would be advantageous.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Essential Requirements:

Valid driving licence and passport.
Willingness to travel within the UK if required
