Job Title: Paint Sprayer
Location: Croydon
Level: Semi Skilled
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Semi-Skilled Rolling Stock Paint Sprayer to join a growing team at a leading Rolling Stock engineering facility in Croydon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the principles of vehicle paint spraying and prepping but does not have much experience. Would suit someone with previous experience in industrial or automotive spraying, keen to develop further skills within the rail industry.
You’ll be supporting major maintenance, refurbishment, and overhaul projects on trains, carriages and rolling stock, preparing surfaces and applying finishes to a high standard.
Full training on rolling stock standards will be provided.
Key Responsibilities of Paint Sprayer

  • Preparation of rolling stock surfaces including masking, sanding and priming
  • Spraying components and full train carriages using airless and HVLP spray systems
  • Application of 2-pack paints, primers, top coats and lacquers
  • Identifying surface imperfections and applying necessary treatments
  • Working from job specifications and following industry safety standards
  • Assisting skilled painters in larger projects and learning advanced techniques
    Requirements of Paint Sprayer
  • Previous experience in spray painting — automotive, commercial vehicle, aerospace or industrial sectors desirable
  • Ability to prep surfaces to a professional standard
  • Experience with 2-pack and epoxy coatings
  • Confident with masking, priming and spray gun operation
  • Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Any rail or rolling stock experience advantageous
  • Willingness to learn and progress within the rail industry
  • Basic understanding of health & safety and COSHH
