Currently the team are developing innovative solutions for deployable nuclear power. This includes deployable Microreactors for Lunar Surface Power to enable space exploration and habitation, and for terrestrial applications to enable the global transition to carbon free electricity.

We have a range of exciting technical opportunities in the areas of Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, System Architecture, and System Integration as part of our growing Systems Engineering and Integration team. The role is aligned to Rolls-Royce Submarines Business, focussed on novel nuclear concepts and product development.

What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for working with external customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and translating this into meaningful requirements for products and services across the Microreactor lifecycle.
Developing and assessing novel concepts for viability against requirements and the business strategy. Understanding the problem space and developing novel system solution that will drive the development programme. Translating your novel system solutions into requirements for the detailed design of the Microreactor, and working with designers to manage integration and trade offs. Leading the technical assessment of Microreactor design solutions to ensure requirements are achieved.

Understanding and tailoring of systems engineering lifecycle processes to new and novel projects Applying System Thinking to the solving of complex or ambiguous problems involving multi-discipline technical teams. Elicitation, derivation, management and validation of requirements at various levels of system applicability such as Business, Product, Service, etc. Developing and managing novel system architectural definitions, preferably using a model-based approach. Integrating cross-disciplinary design teams to enable technical decision making across the system lifecycle.
Non-essential, but desirable experience:
Systems Engineering applied in the nuclear industry or space applications Model-Based System Engineering Tools and Methods – Sparx, PTC, Cameo, Capella, System Composer, SysML, Arcadia, MagicGrid, Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), TOGAF, MODAF, DODAF, Rational DOORs, Polarion, etc… Associate or Certified Systems Engineering Professional status with INCOSE.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
