We have an exciting opportunity for a Noise Engineer to join our team in Derby.

A Noise Project Aerothermal Engineer within Large Engine Design is responsible for all aspects of powerplant generated aircraft noise reduction to support Rolls-Royce's Civil Aerospace businesses. Activities undertaken by the team encompass the acoustic definition of components within the engine and nacelle, verification and certification of engine and component designs via analysis and rig / engine testing, and the definition and execution of technology acquisition programmes to deliver noise reduction for future and in-service products.

This is an exciting and challenging role ideal for an individual seeking to further their Acoustics career by gaining real product development experience and influencing the future of aerospace.

What you will be doing:
The provision of component design advice to meet noise requirements.The estimation of the noise performance of new or in-service engines, often to short timescales and to commercial guarantee or certification standards.Liaison with programme leadership, internal supply chain units, external customers, partners and suppliers, representing Noise Engineering.The management of experimental activities, including the acquisition and appraisal of relevant rig & engine acoustic data.
Who we're looking for
MEng in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or relevant Science or Maths degree.To be able to contribute from day one previous aeroacoustics, gas turbine cycle design experience, aero-thermal or aerodynamics technical experience is required.Previous experience in Gas Turbine full Engine or rig testing and analysis is highly desirable.An ability to apply logical and analytical thinking on a range of technical problems and be able to communicate ideas effectively.Proactive, persistent and customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.Strong Project management and planning skills - capable of responding quickly to urgent requests from customers in addition to longer term planning and technical activities. Effective interpersonal & communication skills essential for liaising with and influencing Airframe customers, Project leadership and the large number of interfaces that exist with this role.Able to deal with ambiguity.
