Due to continued growth within our business, we are looking to develop our Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) capability, therefore we have several permanent vacancies across our Derby manufacturing facility for talented engineers to join our team.

In this role you’ll be developing advanced and automated NDE procedures, involving Ultrasonic, Radiographic Dye Penetrant and Magnetic particles. The inspection techniques will include state-of-the-art phased array inspection capabilities for use on a Naval reactor plant. Your role will play a key part in the design and qualification of new processes as we grow our manufacturing capability and work alongside shop floor colleagues to ensure production rates and technical standards are met to the required standards.

What you will be doing:

Within this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to develop, implement, maintain and continuously improve NDE Techniques & Methods.

The product and materials are somewhat novel when comparing to other vessel fabrications, pumps, valves and assemblies for a Pressurised circuit.

The optimal candidate will have a mixture of skills in the following areas:

Ability to develop and review NDE procedures (Ultrasonic, Radiography, Dye Penetrant and Magnetic particles) required for the inspection of product in manufacture You will be supporting training and coaching in the office and shop floor to ensure inspection standards are met for Automated UT You will be ensuring customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery are met, as well as compliance to design intent.

Essential:

PCN Level 2 Ultrasonic Testing of Welds BS EN 9712 ​ Work experience in an NDE role in similar industry Ability to plan, lead your own technical projects and work with an experienced engineering team Good team working skills with a focus on coaching and delivery

Desirable:

Experience in Advanced UT techniques PCN Level 2 or 3 in Radiography and PCN RPS PCN Level 3 Ultrasonic Testing of Welds or Further qualifications in Ultrasonic testing PCN Level 2 or 3 in Liquid Penetrant PCN Level 2 or 3 in Magnetic Particle

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
