Due to continued business growth, we are looking for an experienced metallurgist to join our well established client where you'll be responsible for conducting metallurgical testing, analyzing results, and preparing technical reports and certifications. Your work will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and supporting customer needs.
Candidates must be qualified within a metallurgy/ material science discipline with a demonstrable background within a metallurgy testing role.
This role offers longer term career progression to join the senior leadership team.
Commutable from Shipley, Keighley, Bingley, Skipton, Baildon, Halifax, Guiseley, Yeadon, Bradford.
Hours – Mon – Thurs 0800 – 1630 / Friday 0800 – 1500
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform metallurgical assessments, including mechanical testing and validation of equipment.
  • Prepare and analyze metallographic samples, ensuring accuracy in examinations.
  • Generate detailed technical reports based on findings.
  • Certify and validate computer-generated results and reports.
  • Review documentation to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks, ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers, addressing inquiries.
  • Assist in preparing customer quotations (initially under supervision).
  • Collaborate with auditors and accreditation bodies to maintain compliance.
  • Oversee metallographic preparation and evaluation of aerospace and commercial weldments.
  • Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Services Director or Quality Manager.
  • Assist in coordinating technician workloads and monitoring test house operations.
  • Ensure work quality aligns with customer expectations and accreditation requirements.
  • Organize and oversee test piece production and testing in collaboration with accreditation authorities.
  • Support the machine shop supervisor in managing workflow and maintaining equipment.
  • Participate in staff training initiatives.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation, including certification records and machine status reports.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
    Required Skills & Experience
  • Qualified in metallurgy, materials science, or engineering.
  • At least five years of experience in metal testing and inspection.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for occasional off-site assignments
