Our purpose is to work with customers to maintain operations, increase efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership, and secure asset performance gains.
We provide customers with quality round-the clock coverage for planned, predictive and reactive maintenance and repairs.
Our main workshop is in Dudley, the capital of the industrial Black Country, West Midlands.
This 35,000 sq. ft. facility houses the latest machinery, testing equipment and central functions, with a satellite facility in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, specialising in electric motor rewinding and pump performance testing.
We are now recruiting for a Mechanical / Gearbox Fitter to provide support to the gearbox repair department by dismantling & assembling of all types of industrial gearboxes and general mechanical equipment.
You will provide a detailed inspection report highlighting operational issues with the machine being assessed.
In addition to this, as our Mechanical / Gearbox Fitter you will be responsible for:

  • Involvement of day-to-day workshop in relation to quality, H&S and environmental activities.
  • Dismantling of all types of gearboxes and mechanical equipment producing concise accurate reports and detail for management
  • Assembling gearboxes/mechanical equipment accurately so they are ready for installation
  • Interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings and technical data.
  • Be pro-active in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business
  • Ensure standard work practices and procedures are being followed
  • Site attendance & site assessment where required
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Part of a call out rota.
    The list of main duties is not exhaustive.
    Additional duties may be added to this role with potential scope for further development within this busy team for the right candidate.
    In order to be successful in this role you must have:
  • Apprenticeship in associated field or adequate experience
  • Health & safety, environmental or quality training would an advantage but not essential
  • Experienced mechanical fitter with knowledge of industrial gearboxes, pumps and electric motors assembly and refurbishment
  • Experienced in the fitting of bearings and other precision components
  • Capable of using precision workshop measuring equipment (i.e., micrometers and verniers)
  • Ensuring excellent quality standards through final inspection and pass off process
  • Ability to work to instruction and on own initiative
  • Selecting and using a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy
  • Read and interpret engineering data
  • To be able to demonstrate problem solving skills to solve and repair issues efficiently and effectively
  • Trained and experienced in the use of overhead cranes and slinging
  • Forklift license and experience is an advantage
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Problem solving skills
  • Full UK driving license
