Our client provides high quality overhaul, maintenance and servicing of passenger rolling stock, locomotives, freight wagons and track plant. Our client is based in Derby and operates out of a large central depot, with satellite sites across the midlands. We are now looking for Mechanical fitters.

You’ll be part of a professional, Dynamic engineering team, working with the same goals.

The Role:

The Mechanical fitters will be working with the Rail Heavy Maintenance team within the Derby depot to support with upcoming projects. Within this role work will vary depending on the projects we have available for general tasks on rolling stock. Mechanical fitter tasks can involve installation and replacement of traction and rolling stock components, harness repair and refurbishment. Also, carrying out modifications in accordance with specified procedures, component changes and overhaul of under carriage.

What You’ll Do:

  • Carry out maintenance and overhaul of Rail Vehicles to laid down standards and procedures

  • Operate rail vehicles, within depot operating limits, in accordance with relevant operating procedures

  • Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with local work instructions

  • Ensure work sheets are signed off on completion of work

  • Use of correct PPE with standards and local instructions

    What You Bring:

  • Qualifications – minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Engineering

  • Experience – previous experience of rail vehicle maintenance activities is desirable

  • Knowledge – good understanding of and ability to interpret engineering drawings

  • Engineering – strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering
