Job Requirements

A Mechanical Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in the Aerospace and Defence industry, Oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team. Develop and implement engineering processes and procedures. At Quest Global we are seeking a highly experienced engineer to join our team.


As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for Supervising engineering teams, Establishing project goals and timelines, Managing design processes, Conducting risk assessments, Coordinating with team members, partners and clients, Ensuring regulatory compliance, Implementing technical standards, Finding solutions for technical issues and provide Expert Advice: Offer technical advice on mechanical systems to managers and staff.


Work Experience


Key Responsibilities:

  • An engineering manager's operational responsibilities involve overseeing engineering projects and teams, help strategize, design, and manage projects at every stage, ensuring that the projects are completed efficiently, correctly, and on schedule
  • Oversee delivery of all projects to customer, engineering improvement projects ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality parameters
  • Responsible to manage and complete the Mechanical engineering and design within budget and planning. This includes change control and consistency of the Mechanical engineering and design with the other disciplines
  • You shall be able to be client facing and manage the expectations of the client in relation to the project scope
  • you will participate in internal and external design reviews and you are responsible for the design acceptance by the client
  • Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within Mechanical Engineering
  • You shall be able to lead projects in a multi-discipline environment and be capable or coordinating all Mechanical engineering and design, with the other disciplines, Process, transmission systems, Gears, Gear box and Marine engineering.
  • You shall be able to effectively carry out, check and approve Engineering and Design estimates, control and report all costs on allocated projects in terms of progress, scope change and man hours


Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • Design Proficiency in Transformation systems, Gears, Gear box and/or Marine engineering
  • Experienced with the production of mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings and schedules
  • Have an appreciation with the main design packages including, Solid Edge, Siemens NX, AutoCAD etc.
  • Result oriented. You are only satisfied after your engineering and design is accepted by the client, you delivered top quality and the client is very satisfied with the performance of you and your team
  • You delegate to your team, but at the same time you know exactly what is going on in your Mechanical discipline, and intervene if required
  • You implement a solid change control procedure for your team, and you can convince the client of the budget and planning consequences of changes
  • You can lead and motivate your team so that they achieve the targets, also in case of setbacks
  • You are able to chair design review meetings
  • You have pleasure in teaching and coaching the young generation Mechanical engineers and designers

Requirements

- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

- Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defence industry.

- Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box

- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)

- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards.

- Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on team, quality and continuous improvement.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
