Marine Mechanical Design Engineer (Outfit) – All levels

Belcan’s Marine Engineering Division is currently going through a period of significant growth and are now looking to recruit a number of Outfit Detail Design Engineers, on a Permanent or Contract (Inside IR35) basis, at all levels (Graduate / Junior – Senior).

This role will involve working on naval marine design projects for defence marine vessels, but experience of similar design experience for commercial vessels would be of great interest as well. This will involve undertaking a defined range of detail design activities in designing the layouts of cabins and areas within the vessels.

Day-to-day tasks will involve the production of 3D models and 2D outputs to support operations and other functions within our Marine sector, whilst maintaining Belcan’s quality, management and service requirements.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance the technical responsibilities inherent within the role, with the commercial and project timescale associated with delivery. The technical skills required for an experienced engineer will include: compartment design, integration of equipment, ship’s access and escape environment, and insulation, paint and deck coverings.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Marine engineering and a defence related industry or in a complex engineering domain such as Automotive, Aerospace, Transportation, Energy etc, supported by previous software experience (Windchill, Siemens NX, FORAN, Ship constructor SSI) or alternatively for a Graduate/Junior Engineer a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or similar is essential.
