Synergy Mission Control Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Commissioning Manager to support our expanding portfolio of data centre projects. Based near Portsmouth, this freelance role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to work with a forward-thinking team delivering high-performance mechanical systems across cutting-edge environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead Commissioning Activities: Plan, execute, and oversee the commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic systems, smoke control, and building automation (BAS and BMS). All delivered within the L1-L5 ASHRAE Commissioning framework as per Data Centre industry standards.

  • System Validation: Perform functional testing, calibration, and performance verification of mechanical installations to ensure compliance with design and operational standards.

  • Troubleshooting & Resolution: Identify issues during commissioning and collaborate with engineers and contractors to implement timely solutions.

  • Documentation & Handover: Produce detailed commissioning reports, maintain test records, and support client handover with clear performance data.

  • Client Liaison: Act as the commissioning point of contact for clients, providing updates and technical insights throughout the process.

    What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in mechanical commissioning for commercial or industrial projects.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, VAVs, hydronics, and BMS.

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • An emphasis on safety across the project.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Data centre experience is a plus, but not essential.
