The Antenna is an exciting and constantly evolving element right at the heart of satellite mission performance and is highly-valued by the end-customer. And its flawless operational performance goes unnoticed by the millions of domestic and commercial broadband TV and Internet users around the world.
The Antenna mechanical engineering group works side by side with RF experts, in a highly dynamic and exciting project environment, to provide mechanical solutions and structure designs for Antennas, providing the stability, alignment, and support needed throughout the satellite life for up to 20 years operation in space.
How you will contribute
- Developing mechanical designs working closely with supporting functions on the details of the design
- Working side-by-side with the RF products engineers to develop integrated RF / Mechanical design solutions
- Providing mechanical design documents and presenting to the customer at design reviews along the life of the project
- Development and qualification of new products, processes, and methods for building antennas faster, better and cheaper
- Managing the mechanical design project team including schedule, budget, risk & opportunity, and resource, to ensure on-quality, on-time, on-cost delivery of the mechanical product.
- Working closely with the Antenna project manager to ensure integration with the overall project plan
About you
- A sound knowledge of the mechanical design principles of structures, ideally for space hardware / equipment
- A strong understanding of the mechanical and thermal analysis techniques, ideally within a space environment however not crucial
- Experience of supporting mechanical tests
- Knowledge of engineering materials and typical manufacturing methods, capabilities and limitations
