gap technical are proud to be representing this manufacturing business in their search for a Laboratory Technician to work at their facility based near Welwyn Garden City
Performance Objectives

Hydrogen content testing
Tensile Testing
Vickers Micro-hardness & Rockwell hardness testing
Grain size Tests
Bend test
Potting-up & polishing samples for
Metallographic testing
Alpha Case Testing
Intergranular Attack Testing
Heat Affected Zone Testing
Daily and Weekly Analysis of chemical process tanks, calculating & recommending additions of solution top-ups / New make-up
Manage laboratory stock levels, obtain quotes, order consumables, book goods in
Support test piece preparation (punching, cutting, drilling etc.)
Housekeeping duties
Participate in laboratory audits both internal and external
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (word, excel etc.)
Operator overchecks
Internal Calibration of equipment
Archive/Storage of Test pieces Person Specification
Degree educated in a material science or minimum of 3 years working in a material testing laboratory.
Working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage your time efficiently
Working with multiple stakeholdersDesirable
Knowledge of aerospace quality management systemsApply
