Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of innovative machinery and systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early-career engineer to work on complex electromechanical designs, gaining exposure to real-world design for manufacture, assembly, and test.
Reporting to the Design Office Manager, you’ll play a key role in producing 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and supporting documentation used in the manufacture of world-class capital equipment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings of mechanical assemblies and components
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and senior design engineers to refine designs
  • Support design reviews and update documentation in line with change requests
  • Ensure designs meet internal standards and client specifications
  • Assist with BOM creation and maintenance in the ERP system
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows and standards
  • Investigate and resolve minor engineering challenges during build and test phases
    Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a mechanical design role
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar)
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
  • Able to interpret technical drawings, specs, and GD&T
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, and willing to take ownership of tasks
    Desirable Skills
  • Experience in low-volume, high-precision machinery design
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and component selection
  • Exposure to engineering change processes and documentation standards
  • Familiarity with PDM or CAD data management tools
