Our prestige engineering client is currently recruiting for the following role:

Joining Engineer BIW - £34/hr (Inside IR35) - Warwickshire - 6 Months (potential for renewal)

Role:
As a Joining Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and application of different joining technologies required for BIW manufacturing. Ensuring that all joining methods are applicable under plant conditions. Your expertise will ensure the quality and performance of all joining solutions.
Working closely with cross-functional teams across Manufacturing, Product Engineering and Materials Engineering, you will play a key role in shaping the future of joining technology applications for luxury automotive vehicles.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Develop new joining technology from concept level to Industrial readiness level. Independently plan and execute experiments, trials, analyse data and report the results.
  • Review existing joining processes and find out opportunities for reducing CO2e footprint.
  • Carry out Benchmarking & Best Practices studies, analyse competitor solutions, conduct a cost/benefit analysis and value mapping exercise.
  • Write joining process standards, develop and maintain PFMEAs for different joining technologies.
  • Collaborate with the project team to review CAD and provide technical inputs for joint feasibility for different joining technologies involves in the vehicle program.
  • Issue Prevention & Resolution - Root cause investigations (8D/DMAIC), capture lessons learned and embed improvements in foundation documentation.

    Skills / Experience:
  • Currently holding a degree or equivalent in a joining or material discipline.
  • Prior direct experience in the automotive industry
  • Background in automotive joining technologies, working at a technical level with any of the following:
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Self-Piercing Riveting (SPR)
  • Resistance Spot Welding (RSW)
  • Adhesive Bonding
  • Laser welding
  • Flow Drive Screw joining

    Additional Information:
    This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
