Our client, a pioneering entity in the space sector, is seeking an Intermediate Optics Systems Engineer to join their rapidly growing team in Didcot/Harwell. Specialising in advanced space sensors for exploration missions and space-based communication technology, this role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to some of the most exciting projects in the space industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing a technical interface to customers and subcontractors
Determining customer needs and managing engineering requirements
Developing innovative solutions and producing system budgets
Analysing performance and justifying design choices
Supervising design, integration, and test phases
Planning and conducting test campaigns; analysing test data
Troubleshooting hardware and software for space missions
Delivering verified flight equipment compliant to customer requirements

Job Requirements:

Essential:

Experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems
Knowledge of optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies
Strong written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with formal configuration control methods
Understanding of qualification and acceptance environmental testing
Experience with systems engineering and test procedure development
Desirable:

Familiarity with ECSS standards
Experience working with systems designed for space environments
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB/C or C++
Hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing
